Banzel (Generic name: Rufinamide, also called Inovelon) is an approved antiepileptic drug (AED) for the adjunctive treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in adults and children 4 years and older. LGS is a severe form of childhood epilepsy that causes developmental and behaviour problems. Banzel is also an anticonvulsant works by acting on the sodium channels in the brain that carry excessive electrical charges that may cause seizures. Take Banzel exactly as it was prescribed for you.
The most common Banzel side effects include dizziness, fatigue, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as easy bruising or bleeding, depression, muscle weakness, numbness, urination problems, worsening of seizures, and serious allergic reaction (difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Do NOT take Banzel if you are allergic to Rufinamide or if you have a generic heart rhythm isorder called “Short QT syndrome”.
