Dosage

Silvadene is available in the strength of 0.05 %/100 gm and 0.05 %/60 gm cream.

Usage

Silvadene (Silver Sulfadiazine) is a prescription medication used to prevent and treat infection of a wound in people with second and third-degree burns on their body. The active ingredient in Silvadene cream is Silver Sulfadiazine. Silvadene belongs to a class of medications called sulfa drugs (antibiotics). Silver Sulfadiazine works by stopping the growth of bacteria that may infect an open wound. It helps to decrease the risk of the bacteria spreading to the surrounding skin or to the blood, where it can cause a severe infection.
