How does Floxin work?

This quinolone antibiotic acts directly on the DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes which prevents the excessive supercoiling of DNA during transcription or replication. By inhibiting the function, it thereby inhibits normal cell division. Note that Floxin can only stop the growth of bacteria and will not work on viral infections.

If you need further medical advice or have inquiries regarding the use of this antibiotic, you can ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take the tablet orally. This is usually prescribed twice daily or every twelve hours. You can take it with or without food, or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the medication whole and drink plenty of fluids while taking this oral medication.

Do not alter your dosage or length of treatment as it is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Also, do not stop taking this antibiotic suddenly to avoid the return of the infection or worsening conditions.
