Usage and Storage

Jublia (Efinaconazole) is a prescription medication that is used to treat toenail fungus (onychomycosis). Jublia can also be used for toenail fungus treatment in kids aged 6 years and older. Efinaconazole belongs to a class of drugs known as azole antifungals. It works by stopping the growth of certain types of fungus. Jublia treats fungal infections only and it will not work for other types of infections caused by bacteria. Jublia is a clear solution that is colorless to pale yellow solution.

This medication is supposed to be used on nails and surrounding skin only. Your toenails should be clean and dry before you apply Jublia. Wait at least 10 minutes after bathing, showering, or washing before applying Jublia. It should be stored in the original bottle tightly closed and in an upright position at room temperature away from children and pets. Do not freeze. Keep it away from heat or open flame.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common Jublia side effects may include blisters, ingrown toenail, itching and pain or irritation where the medication is applied. The serious side effects may include:
• An allergic reaction such as difficult breathing, hives, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat;
• Itching;
• Severe redness;
• Swelling of the affected toenail

Warnings and Interactions

Unnecessary use or overuse of any medication used to treat infections can lead to its decreased effectiveness. You should not use Jublia if you are allergic to Efinaconazole. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC medications. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to other azole antifungals such as clotrimazole, fluconazole or ketoconazole. It is unknown whether Jublia will harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication. It is unknown whether Efinaconazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
