Protopic Ointment Information:
Protopic Ointment (Generic name: Tacrolimus) is a prescription ointment used to treat moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis). Protopic Ointment contains the active ingredient Tacrolimus, which is a type of medicine called a topical immunomodulator. Tacrolimus Ointment is used to reduce the inflammation of the skin in eczema and relieve the symptoms of this condition, such as redness and itching. Protopic is for external use only.
Protopic Ointment Side Effects:
Protopic Ointment is well tolerated. The most common Protopic Ointment side effects are acne, burning, headache, increased skin sensitivity, itching, irritation, rash, and redness at the site of application. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as trouble breathing, skin infections, wheezing, please inform your doctor immediately.
Protopic Ointment Precautions:
Do NOT use Protopic Ointment if you are allergic to Tacrolimus or any of the ingredients in Protopic Ointment medication. Before using Protopic Ointment, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as infected eczema or dermatitis, kidney or liver problems, underactive immune system, or any skin infections. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Protopic Ointment drug. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Protopic 0.03% should NOT be used in children under two years of age. Protopic 0.1% should NOT be used in children under 16 years of age. Avoid sun exposure while use Protopic Ointment.
