Xopenex (Generic name: Levalbuterol Hydrochloride) is an inhalation solution used to treat wheezing and shortness of breath that commonly occur with lung problems (e.g., asthma, COPD - chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Levalbuterol HCl is a bronchodilator that works by relaxing the tightened muscles around your airway passages to relieve symptoms like coughing, wheezing, chest tightening, and shortness of breath. Xopenex inhaler works fast, usually produce desired results in as little as 15 minutes while other forms may take up to half an hour. Use Xopenex inhalation exactly as it was prescribed for you.
The most common Xopenex side effects are cough, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, nausea, runny nose, sore throat, stomach upset, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as angina, chest pain, fainting, irregular heartbeat, seizures, tremor, or symptoms of allergic reactions (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
