Amoxil Information:
Amoxil (Amoxicillin) is a penicillin antibiotic that is used to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin or urinary tract. Amoxil is sometimes used together with Clarithomycin to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. Amoxicillin belongs to the class of medications called penicillin-like antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This medication will only treat bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
Do not use Amoxil if you are allergic to Amoxicillin or to any other Penicillin antibiotics. You should drink plenty of fluids while using this medication unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Amoxicillin can make birth control pills less effective. Ask your doctor about using a non-hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy. You should continue taking Amoxil until the full prescribed amount is finished even if your symptoms disappear after a few days. The common side effects of this medication may include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Amoxicillin may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well. You should not have any immunizations while you are using this medication unless advised by your doctor.
Amoxil Availability
Big Mountain Drugs currently offers the generic Amoxicillin from India also called Novamox by Cipla and Canada by different manufacturers. Amoxicillin is available in the dosages of 125 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg tablets and 250 mg/5 ml/100 ml and 250 mg/5 ml/150 ml powder for suspension. The brand Amoxil is not available at this time.
