Indications

Prozac is an antidepressant medication used to treat and relieve symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder (MAD) as well as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa, and panic disorder.

Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases the availability of serotonin in your brain by blocking its neuronal reuptake. Prozac also affects the neurotransmitters in your brain to help maintain a balance of chemicals. This helps relieve symptoms associated with different mental health issues including MAD, OCD, and panic disorder.

Prozac is used to treat various mental health conditions and may help treat manic depression caused by bipolar I disorder when taken with another medication called olanzapine. This antidepressant medication causes fewer anticholinergic, hypotensive, and sedative effects than tricyclic antidepressants.
