Ganfort Eye Drops Information

Ganfort eye drops Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently offers the brand Ganfort eye drops from the United Kingdom manufactured by Allergan. The generic version is not available. Our customers may also purchase other eye care medicine such as Lumigan and Xalatan eye drops.

Dosage

Ganfort eye drops are available in the strength of Bimatoprost 0.3 mg/mL and Timolol maleate 5.0 mg/mL in a 3ml bottle.

Usage

Ganfort eye drops (Bimatoprost/ Timolol maleate) are a prescription medicine used to treat open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension in adults who are unresponsive to monotherapy. Ganfort contains two active substances, Bimatoprost and Timolol, which lower the pressure in the eye in different ways. Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analog that works by increasing the drainage of fluid out of the eye. Timolol is a beta-blocker that works by reducing the production of fluid within the eye. Combining the two active substances has an additive effect, reducing the pressure inside the eye more than either medicine alone.

The common side effects of Ganfort eye drops include irritation of the eye, itching, sensitivity to light swollen eyelids, redness of the eye. If these side effects persist or become unbearable, consult your doctor.

• Anxiety or nervousness, confusion, hallucinations, sleepiness or drowsiness;
• Blurry vision;
• Darkening of the skin around the eye;
• Difficulty with breathing, wheezing, cough, nasal congestion;

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Ganfort eye drops if you are allergic to Bimatoprost, Timolol, or any of the ingredients in Ganfort. Do not wear contact lenses while you apply Ganfort eye drops. Contact your doctor right away if the product does not look quite right, such as discolored.

Before you start using Ganfort eye drops, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Diabetes mellitus or an overactive thyroid;
• Diseases affecting your blood vessels;
• Eye inflammation or eye surface disease;
• Liver or kidney disease;
• Low blood pressure;
• Lung disease including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD);
Myasthenia gravis which can cause muscle weakness or other symptoms common to that disease;
• Slow or irregular heart rate, coronary heart disease or heart failure;

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, vitamin supplements, and other eye drops. There may be a drug interaction between Ganfort eye drops and other drugs such as antihypertensive (atenolol, lisinopril), anti-diabetic medications (metformin, biguanide, glipizide), medicines used to treat heart problems/conditions (e.g., digitalis glycosides, antiarrhythmics, and quinidine). Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Ganfort eye drops, like most drugs, should not be used during pregnancy unless the advantages outweigh the danger to the infant. Also, inform your doctor if you are or planning to be a nursing mother. This medicine may pass into breastmilk, posing a significant danger to your baby.
