Usage

Solian (Amisulpride) is a prescription medication used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia may cause symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, unusual suspiciousness, emotional and social withdrawal. Amisulpride belongs to a group of medications called antipsychotics. Amisulpride works by blocking the receptors in the brain that dopamine acts on, which improves disturbed thoughts, feelings and behaviour. You may start to feel better in a short time but it can take as long as six to eight weeks before you notice the full benefits of this medication.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Amilsulpride may include anxiety, agitation, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased appetite, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, and weight gain. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Abnormal face or tongue movements;
• Dark colored urine;
• Faster breathing;
• Fever;
• Jaundice;
• Light colored bowel motions;
• Muscle stiffness and twitching;
• Unexplained infections

This medication can cause an absence of their monthly period, breast pain, changes in the regularity of their periods, and milk secretion in women. This medication may cause drowsiness. Be careful if you drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Do not drink alcohol. Be careful if you take antihistamines, sleeping tablets or pain medications because Solian medication can increase drowsiness caused by taking these medications. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Amisulpride and other medications such as heart medications, diuretics, glucocorticosteroids, anaesthetics, depression medications, pain killers, antihistamines, blood pressure medications, etc. Solian should not be taken by anyone under the age of 18 years old unless advised by your doctor.
