Product Details
Mevacor (Lovastatin) is a prescription medication that is used along with a proper diet to lower high cholesterol. This medication is used in combination with exercise and a proper diet. It may also be used to reduce the risk of heart attack and chest pain caused by Angina in certain patients. It is also used to slow blood vessel blockage. Lovastatin belongs to the family of medications known as cholesterol-lowering medications. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver.

Side Effects and Precautions
As with all statin like drugs the major side effect is myalgia or myalgia like symptoms. Less common side effects may include:
• Blurred vision;
• Chest tightness;
• Cough;
• Difficult burning or painful urination;
• Fever;
• Headache;
• Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness;
• Unusual tiredness or weakness

You should not use Mevacor if you are allergic to Lovastatin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication must not be used during pregnancy. Lovastatin may harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant while taking this medication. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. There are other medications that may interact with Lovastatin such as itraconazole, colchicine, cyclosporine, nefazodone, hepatitis C virus protease inhibitors, etc.
