Usage

Timoptic (Timolol Maleate) is a prescription topical medication used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open angle-type) or other eye diseases (such as ocular hypertension). Increased pressure inside your eye can damage your optic nerve. This can cause vision loss or blindness. The active ingredient in Timoptic is Timolol Maleate. Timolol Maleate belongs to the class of medication called beta-blockers. It works by lowering the amount of fluid within the eye. Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness.

Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

The common side effects of Timoptic are eye pain, irritation or discomfort, swollen eyelids, eye infection, or increased sensitivity to light.
