Arimidex Uses

Arimidex, with the generic name anastrozole, is an oral medication indicated as an initial treatment for hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer among postmenopausal women. It is also used to treat advanced breast cancer with disease progression among patients who did not respond to tamoxifen therapy.

This is available in Arimidex 1 mg tablet.

How does Arimidex work?

This aromatase inhibitor works by hampering the enzyme that is responsible for converting adrenal androgens into estrogen and estradiol. It suppresses estrogen biosynthesis and lowers serum estradiol concentrations. Doing so helps slow or reverse the growth of breast cancers.

How to use Arimidex

To initiate, read the medication information leaflet that comes with this product. Do not take this type of medication without fully understanding the drug information and warnings written in the guide. Take this tablet orally. This is usually prescribed once daily, with or without a meal or as directed by your physician. Swallow the tablet and drink a glass of water right after. You must not split, crush, or chew this oral drug.

Remember to take Arimidex regularly and with a dosing schedule to achieve the best result. Do alter your dosing. More so, increasing the dose or taking it more frequently than prescribed. Note that this drug could be absorbed through the skin and lungs. People handling this medication must exercise caution. Pregnant moms and those who may be pregnant must not handle or inhale the powder of this medication because of the potential harm that it could cause to unborn babies.
