Mydriacyl Eye Drops Information:

Mydriacyl (Tropicamide) is an anticholinergic eye drop solution. It is used to enlarge the pupil of the eye and temporarily paralyse the lens so your doctor can examine your eye, typically at the beginning of an eye examination. It works by blocking the action of the parasympathetic nervous system, which controls the size of the pupil and the shape of the lens, as well as eye movement. You should not use Mydriacyl if you are allergic to tropicamide, if you have glaucoma or tendencies to develop glaucoma, if you are at risk for increased pressure within the eyeball, or if you have inflamed eyes. These eye drops can cause blurred vision, difficulty focusing, and sensitivity to light. These effects can last for four to six hours. After using these eye drops, you must not drive until you can see clearly. Tell your doctor about any medications you are currently using, as Mydriacyl can absorb through your bloodstream and interact with other medications. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
