Viread Information:

Viread (Generic name: Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate) is an anti-HIV medication used to treat HIV and and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV, a type of liver infection). Viread may be used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and children 2 years and older. Viread does not cure HBV or prevent the spread of HIV to others through sexual contact or blood contamination. It helps to lower the amount of HBV in the body so your immune system can work better. It also lowers the risk of getting HIV disease complications such as new infection or cancer.

Viread is used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B in adults and children 12 years and older. It helps to decrease the amount of hepatitis B virus by interfering with virus growth in our body. Viread should NOT be used in combination with Atripla, Complera, or Truvada. Take Viread exactly as it was prescribed for you.
