Usage

Vyloma Cream (Imiquimod) is a topical cream used to treat actinic keratoses (AK), which are precancerous growths on the skin. Actinic keratoses are flat, scaly growths on the skin caused by too much sun exposure. Imiquimod cream is also used to treat superficial basal cell carcinoma (a type of skin cancer) on the trunk, neck, arms, hands, legs, or feet and warts on the skin of the genital and anal areas. Treating this condition can decrease the risk of complications from them. The active ingredient in Vyloma is Imiquimod. Imiquimod belongs to a group of drugs called immune response modifiers. It is believed to work by boosting the immune system and helps to fight these abnormal skin growths.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Vyloma Cream are redness, swelling, itching, burning, tenderness, thickening of the skin, crusting, or leaking of clear fluid from treated areas.

Stop using Vyloma Cream and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
• Flu-like symptoms such as fever, tiredness, muscle aches;
• Rash, itching or swelling;
• Severe dizziness;
• Trouble breathing;
• Worsening of your symptoms

Warnings and Interactions

Before using imiquimod, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies. Vyloma is a cream that should be applied to the affected areas on the skin only. Do not take it by mouth. Follow your prescription label carefully and prime the pump before every use. Wash your hands before and after every use. Imiquimod cream should be applied 3 times per week for 2 weeks before normal sleeping hours and remain on the skin for 6 to 10 hours. In the morning, wash the treated area with soap and water to remove the cream. You will then rest the treated skin for two weeks by not applying more imiquimod. After this rest period, you will resume applying this medication once a day for another 2 weeks. Imiquimod cream treatment should continue until the clearance of visible genital or perianal/genital warts or for a maximum of 16 weeks per episode of warts. Vyloma cream may make you more sensitive to the sun. Limit your time in the sun. Do not apply this medication to sunburned skin. Tell your doctor immediately if you get sunburned or have skin blisters/redness. Do not use more imiquimod than prescribed or leave it on longer than prescribed by your doctor. Doing so increases the risk of severe skin reactions. Tell your doctor if your condition lasts or worsens or if new growths appear during treatment.

Before you start using Vyloma Cream, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Autoimmune diseases such as vitiligo, thyroid disorder, etc;
• Kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Skin cancer

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. There may be a drug interaction between Vyloma Cream and other drugs, such as steroid-containing topical cream. Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture. Do not freeze.
