Bromday Information

Bromday (Bromfenac Sodium) is a medication used to treat swelling (inflammation) and pain in the eye after a certain type of eye surgery (cataract surgery). A cataract is a cloudy area in the eyes' lens (the clear part of the eye that helps to focus light), and the chances of having it increase with age (commoner among elderly patients). Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Bromday works by blocking the effects of certain natural substances (prostaglandins) that cause pain and inflammation.

Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Bleeding within the affected eye;
• Sensitivity of your eyes to light;
• Severe headache;
• Severe eye pain or discharge;
• Worsening sight

Bromday Precautions

Do not use Bromday if you are allergic to Bromfenac Sodium or any other ingredients in this medication or if you are using other similar eye drops. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you are treating diabetes mellitus, asthma, dry eye syndrome; recalcitrant hypertension; have eye problems such as cataracts or glaucoma; trauma to the eyes, seasonal allergies. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding, and do not use the eye drops for a child below 5 years without discussing with your doctor. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Bromday and other medications, such as other topical medications or eye drops. Discuss with your doctor before using other eye drops. Bromfenac ophthalmic is a solution (eye drops) to instill in the eyes. It is usually instilled in the affected eye(s) once or twice daily for 14 days after cataract surgery. Your doctor may also tell you to use Bromfenac the day before, and on the day of the surgery, depending on the brand of Bromfenac ophthalmic your doctor has prescribed. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use Bromfenac ophthalmic precisely as directed. Do not use or use more or less of it more often than your doctor prescribes. To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination. If you are wearing contact lenses, remove them before using eye drops. Wait at least 10 minutes before replacing your contact lenses. Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch. Apply gentle pressure for 1 to 2 minutes before opening your eyes. Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children.
