How Losartan Works
Losartan belongs to a family of medications known as angiotensin 11 receptor blockers. They are used to lower mild to moderate hypertension (high blood pressure). Angiotensin 11 is a chemical that releases to cause the constriction of blood vessels. Losartan stops this action causing the blood pressure to drop. It can sometimes take three to six weeks after treatment has begun for the full results to be seen. Losartan can be used alone or in combination with a diuretic.
