Tricor Information
TriCor (Generic name: Fenofibrate) is a prescription medication used along with diet to treat people with very high levels of triglyceride (a fatty substance in the blood). TriCor also improves cholesterol levels by lowering total cholesterol—including "bad" LDL cholesterol—and raising "good" HDL cholesterol. Fenofibrate works by promoting the dissolution and elimination of fat particles in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries). Take TriCor exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Tricor Side Effects
The most common TriCor side effects are back pain, headache, respiratory disorders, stomach pain and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as fever, muscle pain, signs of inflammation of the gallbladder or pancreas, tenderness, tiredness or weakness, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., rash, hives, difficult breathing, swelling of the lips, throat or tongue), please inform your doctor immediately.
Tricor Precautions
Do NOT take TriCor oral if you are allergic to Fenofibrate or to any of the ingredients in TriCor medication. Before taking TriCor, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as diabetes, gallbladder, hepatitis or cirrhosis of the liver, hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland), liver or kidney disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with TriCor drug, especially of: blood thinner (e.g., warfarin), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf), and other cholesterol lowering medications. Fenofibrate TriCor has NOT been shown to prevent heart disease or heart attack. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
