Prandimet (Repaglinide/Metformin) is a combined prescription medicine used to control the level of blood glucose in a patient diagnosed to have diabetic Mellitus. The active ingredients in Prandimet are Repaglinide and Metformin. Repaglinide belongs to the class of drugs called meglitinides, or simply glinides, and it works by causing the pancreas to produce insulin. Metformin belongs to the group of medications called biguanides and works by decreasing glucose (sugar) production in the liver and decreasing glucose absorption by the intestines. Controlling high blood sugar helps to prevent renal damage, sudden blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems.

The common side effects of Prandimet are extremely low blood sugar, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach ache.
