Xarelto Details

Xarelto (generic: rivaroxaban) is an oral drug indicated to lessen the risk of systemic embolism and stroke among patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. It is also used to treat and reduce the risk of recurrence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It could also be a prophylaxis for DVT, which could lead to PE following a knee or hip replacement surgery. This is available in Xarelto 20 mg, 15 mg, and 10 mg tablets.

What are The Uses of Xarelto?

Before starting to take Xarelto, it is necessary to read the information leaflet or medication guide given by a healthcare professional. You must not take any medication unless you have understood all the information regarding it. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for further medical advice or additional details.

This tablet is only meant to be taken by mouth. You may administer your dose with or without a meal. Swallow the tablet and then drink a glass of fluid after. If you cannot swallow it whole, crush the tablet and mix it with your beverage or a tablespoon of apple sauce.

Make a dosing schedule in order to avoid forgetting your doses. Once or twice a day, this drug is commonly given. If you are taking this anticoagulant to prevent blood clots or stroke, you should take this with your evening meal. Do not increase or decrease your Xarelto dosing and alter your frequency as they are based on your medical condition, other drugs you are taking, and response to medication. It is also important to keep taking this medication and comply with the length of treatment. Stopping Xarelto abruptly could lead to worsening conditions.
