Naftin Information

Naftin (Naftifine) is used to treat fungal skin infections like athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm infections. Fungal skin infections often develop in sweaty or damp areas that don’t get much airflow. The infections usually appear as a scaly rash or discolored, itchy skin. Antifungals like Naftifine kill the fungus causing the infection.

Naftin Side Effects

The most common side effects of Naftin may include dryness; irritation of treated skin; Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Severe skin irritation;
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as breathing difficulties, hives, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat

Naftin Precautions

Do not use Naftin if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known if this medication will harm your unborn baby. The drug should only be used in pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Do not use Naftin while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is not known if Naftifine passes into your breastmilk or if it may harm nursing infants. It is not known if this drug is safe for use in children below 12 years of age. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Naftifine is a topical medication and should be used on the skin only. Do not take it by mouth. Rinse with water if this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth. Wash your hands before and after using this medication. Clean and dry the affected area before applying the cream. Do not use bandages or dressings after applying the cream to allow air circulation. Wear loose-fitting clothing made of cotton and other natural fibers until the infection is healed. Use Naftin cream for the full prescribed length of time, even if your symptoms quickly improve. Skipping doses can increase your risk of infection that is resistant to medication. Contact your doctor if your infection gets worse or does not improve within 4 weeks of using Naftin. Store this medication at room temperature and keep it out of the reach of children.
