Premarin (Generic name: Conjugated Estrogens) is used to treat the symptoms of menopause including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and vaginal atrophy. Conjugated Estrogen is an estrogen replacement hormone used primarily to manage the menopausal symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding (spotting), hot flashes, sweating, and chills. It is also used by women to prevent and treat osteoporosis. Take Premarin exactly as it was prescribed for you.
The most common Premarin side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, headache, impotence, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach cramps, vaginal itching, vomiting, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as breast lumps, chest pain, confusion, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, leg cramps or swelling, migraine, mood or mental changes, numbness, unusual vaginal bleeding, vision changes, weight changes, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Do NOT take Premarin oral if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Premarin medication. They may interact with Premarin drug, especially of: antidiabetic, barbiturates, blood pressure-lowering, corticosteroids, carbamazepine, meprobamate, phenylbutazone, phenytoin, rifampin, ritonavir, St. John's wort, topiramate, warfarin, and etc.
