Usage

Exelderm (Sulconazole) is a prescription medicine used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot, tinea pedis, jock itch, ringworm (tinea corporis), and tinea versicolor. The active ingredient in Exelderm is Sulconazole. Sulconazole belongs to the class of drugs called antifungal agents. Sulconazole is an azole antifungal that works by killing and preventing the growth of fungus.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Exelderm are burning, flaking of the treated skin may occur, flushing or redness of the skin, stinging, tenderness, redness, irritation, and swelling.

Stop using Exelderm cream and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Burning sensation;
• Blistering skin;
• Flushing or redness of the skin;
• Itching;
• Irritation of treated area;
• Stinging sensation

Warnings and Interactions

You should know that Exelderm is a topical cream for skin use only. Before using Exelderm (Sulconazole), tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other azole antifungals such as clotrimazole, ketoconazole, or miconazole; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Tell your doctor if you have a weak immune system (caused by disease or using particular medicine) to ensure Sulconazole is safe for you. Good health habits are also required to help clear up your infection completely and to help make sure it does not return. The following measures will help reduce irritation and will also help keep the area cool and dry:
• Avoid wearing tight-fitting underwear made from synthetic materials, such as rayon or nylon. Instead, wear loose-fitting cotton underwear;
• Avoid wearing socks made from wool or synthetic fabrics, for example, rayon or nylon;
• Avoid too much heat and humidity if possible;
• Avoid eye contact while applying this medication;
• Carefully dry the feet, especially between the toes, after bathing;
• Wear well-ventilated, loose-fitting clothing

Before you start using Exelderm, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Allergic to other antifungal medicines such as miconazole, terconazole, clotrimazole and others;
• Any other skin condition such as psoriasis;
• Weak immune system (caused by disease or by using certain medicine)

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. This medication should only be used if needed during pregnancy. Kindly ask your doctor about the risks and benefits of using the drug while pregnant. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Inform your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Exelderm and other drugs such as Disopyramide cisapride, astemizole, erythromycin, pimozide, procainamide, quinidine, ibutilide, erythromycin, etc.
