What are The Uses of Linzess?

Linzess (linaclotide) is an oral prescription drug prescribed to adults with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation and chronic idiopathic constipation. It improves the texture of the stool and relieves symptoms, such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, straining, and feeling of incomplete bowel movements or emptying.

Mechanism of Action 

This drug increases both the extracellular and intracellular cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels. It accelerates gastrointestinal transit and also relieves intestinal or abdominal pain.  

How to Take Linzess 

Before taking this medication, it is necessary to read the information leaflet or medication guide given by a healthcare professional.
