Indications

Alomide is an ocular medication used to treat allergy eye symptoms including itching, redness, burning, watering, and sensitivity to light in adults and children over the age of 2.

Lodexamide is a mast cell stabilizer that offers antihistaminic and decongestant properties. The eye drops inhibit certain chemicals in your eyes and body that contribute to your allergic reaction, including histamines and leukotrienes. Thanks to these actions, Alomide can relieve allergy symptoms in your eyes including itching, burning, watering, and redness.

Dosage and Administration

The administration regimen of Alomide eye drops will vary depending on the individual and the severity of their allergic reaction. Follow all instructions offered by your healthcare provider and read packaging labels carefully to ensure the best therapeutic response. Do not instill more drops or use the medication for longer than recommended.

  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after use
  • Most patients instill one to two drops of Alomide into each affected eye 4 times each day
  • Alomide can be used daily for up to 3 months
  • Do not apply the eye drops while wearing soft contact lenses
  • Shake the Alomide container before each use
  • To apply, tilt back your head, gently pull down your lower lid to create a small pocket
  • Hold the dropper over your eye and squeeze a drop into the pocket you created
  • Close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes while gently pressing the inside corner of your eye
  • Do not touch any surface with the eye dropper tip, including your hands or eyes
  • Wait at least 10 minutes after administration before using any other prescribed eye drops
  • Wait for at least 15 minutes after use to insert or reinsert your contact lenses
  • Store at room temperature out of reach from children and pets
  • Do not let the eye drop solution freeze.
