Sulfacet-R Lotion (Generic name: Sulfacetamide Sodium 10% and Sulfur 5%) is a brand name anti-acne medication used to treat acne and other skin conditions (e.g., bacterial folliculitis, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis). Sulfacet R Lotion contains an antibacterial agent and a drying agent that promotes shedding of the top layer of skin (keratolysis).Sulfacetamide Sodium is an antibacterial agent that interferes with the growth of bacteria on the skin. Sulfur may also inhibit the growth of bacteria on the skin and it may cause drying of the skin. Clean the affected area and apply a thin layer of medication to the skin 1 to 3 times daily, or use Sulfacetamide Sulfur topical as directed by your doctor. Sulfacet R Lotion is for external use only.
Sulfacet-R Lotion is well tolerated. The most common Sulfacet-R side effects may include dryness, peeling, irritation, rash, or redness of the skin. If you experience any serious side effects or symptoms of an allergic reaction, please inform your doctor immediately.
Do NOT use Sulfacet-R if you are allergic to Sulfacetamide or any of the ingredients in Sulfacet-R medication. Before using Sulfacet R, tell your doctor if you have: kidney diseases. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Sulfacet R drug, especially of: other acne or topical skin care medications. Sulfacet-R medication should not be used at the same time as other drying or peeling agents (e.g., tretinoin).
