Exelderm (Sulconazole Nitrate) is a prescription medicine; a topical cream containing 1% sulconazole nitrate and used for the temporary relief of itching, rashes, and inflammation, and to treat eczema and dermatitis. Exelderm is also used to treat the symptoms of Tinea Corpis (Ringworm), Tinea Cruris (Jock Itch), Tinea Pedis (Athlete’s Foot), and Tinea Versicolor; a yeast infection of the skin that results in lightening or darkening of the skin on the neck, chest, arms, or legs. It may be used alone or with other medications. Sulconazole nitrate is an imidazole-derived broad-spectrum antifungal and anti-yeast agent that acts by inhibiting sterol synthesis within the fungal cell walls.

Get emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction. The common side effects of Exelderm include burning, flaking of treated skin, irritation, pimple-like bumps, stinging, swelling, and tenderness.
Stop using Exelderm cream and call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Dryness;
• Irritation of treated skin;
• Itching;
• Peeling dryness;
• Redness;
• Severe blistering
You should not use Exelderm cream if you are allergic to Sulconazole. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history and if you are allergic to other antifungal medications or if you have a weak immune system. Do not use Exelderm cream on the areas you treat with other medications unless advised by your doctor. Wear loose-fitting clothing made of cotton and other natural fibers until the infection is healed to allow air circulation. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Exelderm is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old.
