Monurol (Fosfomycin Tromethamine) is a prescription medication that is used to treat bladder infections such as acute cystitis or lower urinary tract infections in women. Fosfomycin is a novel class of antibacterial drugs with a chemical structure unrelated to other known antibiotics. This medication works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Monurol is only used to treat bacterial infections. It should not be used to treat infections outside the bladder such as kidney infections. This medication will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu. Your symptoms should improve within 2 to 3 days. Inform your doctor if you do not get better after 3 days or if your condition worsens.

Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand Monurol from Canada manufactured by Paladin. There is no generic available for this medication. Monurol is available in the strength of 3 gm powder sachets.
Monurol should be stored at room temperature between 15°- 30° C away from children.
Do not use this medication after the expiration date printed on the box.
The common side effects of Monurol may include diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea and vaginal discomfort.
Inform your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects such as:
• Abdominal or stomach pain or cramping;
• Blood or mucus in the stool;
• Diarrhea that does not stop;
• Unusual weakness;
• Vision changes

You should not use Monurol if you are allergic to Fosfomycin Tromethamine or if you have any other allergies. This medication may make you dizzy. Alcohol and marijuana can make you dizzier. You should not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. You should not have any immunizations or vaccinations while using this medication as it may cause live bacterial vaccines to not work as well. Monurol should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. This medication passes into breast milk in small amounts but is unlikely to harm a nursing infant. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
