Kaletra Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently has an inventory of the brand Kaletra from Canada manufactured by Abbvie. The Kaletra generic, also called Lopinavir/Ritonavir, comes from India manufactured by Cipla. It is also known as Lopimune.

Dosage

Kaletra and the generic Lopinavir/Ritonavir is sold in the strength of 200 mg/50 mg tablets.

Usage

Kaletra (Lopinavir/Ritonavir) is an antiviral medication used to treat HIV, which untreated can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Kaletra is not a cure for HIV or AIDS, and will not prevent your disease from transmitting to others. Kaletra contains two antiviral medications, Lopinavir and Ritonavir, both of which are a type of antiviral known as protease inhibitors. Protease is an enzyme that is needed by HIV for reproduction. Lopinavir and Ritonavir work to block the actions of protease, and in turn stop the virus from multiplying, which lowers the levels of HIV in your blood.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Kaletra include nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, high cholesterol. Or changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist). Contact your doctor immediately if you notice more serious side effects such as headache with chest pain and severe dizziness, irregular heartbeat, signs of liver problems (loss of appetite, stomach pain, dark urine, jaundice), or signs of high blood sugar (increased thirst, increased urination). If you notice any serious side effects, signs of an allergic reaction, or signs of a severe skin reaction, seek emergency medical attention.

Warnings and Interactions

Do not use Kaletra if you are allergic to lopinavir or ritonavir. To make sure Kaletra is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease, heart disease or other heart issues, pancreas problems, diabetes, low levels of potassium, or a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia. Tell your doctor all the prescriptions and over-the-counter medications you are taking including herbal products, especially cobicistat, certain HIV medications (such as fosamprenavir, tipranavir), orlistat. It is not known whether Kaletra will harm an unborn baby. But HIV can be passed to your baby if you are not properly treated during pregnancy. Women with HIV or AIDS should not breast-feed a baby. Even if your baby is born without HIV, the virus may be passed to the baby in your breast milk. Kaletra is not approved for use by anyone younger than 14 days old. Premature infants should not receive the medication until it has been 14 days after their original due date. Kaletra will not stop your disease from transmitting. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not chew, break, or crush it.
