Votrient Information
Votrient (Pazopanib) is used to treat advanced kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). This medication is also used to treat
soft tissue sarcoma. Pazopanib belongs to the class of drugs called tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It works by decreasing the blood supply to the cancer tumor to slow its growth. Votrient should not be used in children younger than 2 years of age.
The common side effects of Votrient include altered sense of taste, diarrhea, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting and weight loss. Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as signs of an infection, signs of kidney problems, signs of an underactive thyroid and symptoms of heart failure. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant to plan to become pregnant as this medication may harm an unborn baby. Do not breast-feed while using this medication and for two weeks after stopping treatment.
