Anandron (Nilutamide) is a prescription medication used to treat prostate cancer in men. Prostate cancer is a form of cancer that begins when the cells in the prostate gland start to grow out of control. If left untreated, prostate cancer can spread to nearby tissues or farther away from other body parts. The active ingredient in Anandron is Nilutamide. Nilutamide belongs to a class of drugs called non-steroidal anti-androgens. It works by blocking the effect of androgen hormones naturally produced by the body. Blocking the effect of the hormones is intended to stop cancer growth. In addition, Anandron may be used with other medicines known as LHRH agonists or after prostate cancer surgery.
