Dosage

Persantine and its generic Dipyridamole are available in the strength of 25 mg tablets and 5 mg/ml ampoules.

Usage

Persantine (Dipyridamole) is a prescription medication used to prevents blood clots after a heart valve replacement surgery. Persantine injection is used in a stress test to see how well your heart is pumping blood. You may use Persantine alone or other blood thinners such as warfarin. The active ingredient in Persantine is Dipyridamole. Dipyridamole belongs to the class of drugs called antiplatelet agents. It makes the platelets less sticky, preventing clumping together to form blood clots. As a result, the medication keeps the heart's blood vessels open to keep blood flowing. Treating blood clots helps to prevent strokes, heart attacks, or blockage of blood vessels in the lungs (pulmonary embolisms).
