Usage

Albalon (Naphazoline Hydrochloride) is a prescription eye medication used to relieve redness, puffiness, and itchy or watering eyes due to colds, allergies, or eye irritations (smog, swimming, or wearing contact lenses). The active ingredient in Albalon eye drops is Naphazoline hydrochloride. Naphazoline Hydrochloride belongs to the group of medicine called anti-histamine or anti-allergic (Ophthalmic). It works by narrowing swollen blood vessels in the eyes to reduce eye redness. Albalon (for the eye) is for temporary relief of minor eye redness or discomfort caused by minor irritants.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Albalon are blurred vision, eye pain, eye irritation, headache, mydriasis, and changes in intraocular pressure.

Stop using Albalon and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Buzzing in your ears;
• Eye pain;
• Feeling short of breath;
• Ongoing or worsening eye redness;
• Severe dizziness or headache;
• Vision changes

Warnings and Interactions

It is not for use in children unless under medical advice. Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially severe drowsiness and severely decreased body temperature. Talk to your doctor if you are using the eye drop for your child. Before you start using Albalon, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• A thyroid disorder;
• An eye injury or infection;
• Diabetes;
• Glaucoma;
• Heart disease, high blood pressure;
• Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism);

There may be a drug interaction between Albalon and other drugs such as amitriptyline, desipramine, desvenlafaxine, doxepin, duloxetine, imipramine, maprotiline, nortriptyline, venlafaxine, ergotamine, linezolid, rasagiline, tranylcypromine, other eye drops.
