Mezavant Information:
Mezavant Suppositories (Generic name: Mesalamine Delayed Release Tablets) is a prescription medication used to treat ulcerative colitis, proctitis and proctosigmoiditis. Mesalamine is an anti-inflammatory agent used to treat inflammation of the digestive tract. It works inside the bowel by helping to reduce the inflammation and other symptoms of bowel disease. Mezavant Mesalamine is also used to prevent the symptoms of ulcerative colitis from recurring. Take Mezavant tablets exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Mezavant Side Effects:
Mezavant is generally well tolerated. The most common Mezavant side effects are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, flu symptoms, gas, headache, nausea, stomach cramps, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, fast heartbeat, fever, jaundice, sore throat, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Mezavant Precautions:
Do NOT take Mezavant oral if you are allergic to salicylates (including mesalamine or aspirin) or any of the ingredients in Mezavant medication. Before taking Mezavant, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as asthma, congestive heart disease, drug allergies, kidney or liver disease, and pancreas problems. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Mezavant drug, especially of: antibiotics, antiviral, aspirin, cancer medicines, NSAIDs, tacrolimus, and etc. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
