Aralen Information:
Aralen (Generic name: Chloroquine Phosphate) is a NEW antimalarial drug used to treat and prevent malaria, which is an infectious disease caused by a parasite (plasmodium) infects red blood cells in malarious regions. Aralen is also an amebicidal drug used to treat amebiasis caused by ameba and other parasitic infections. Aralen may also be used for the management of systemic lupus. Aralen is the drug of choice to reduce the risks of malaria for international travellers. Take Aralen exactly as it is prescribed for you.
Aralen Side Effects:
The most common Aralen side effects are blurred vision, diarrhea, headache, nausea, sore throat, stomach upset, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as fainting, flu-like symptoms, hair loss, hearing or vision changes, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, mental/mood changes, seizures, and serious allergic reaction (difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Aralen Precautions:
Do NOT take Aralen if you are allergic to Chloroquine Phosphate or hydroxychloroquine or any of the ingredients in Aralen medication. Before taking Aralen oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as blood disorder, certain enzyme problems, eye/vision problems, hearing problems, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, psoriasis, seizures, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Aralen drug, especially of: ampicillin, antacids, certain diarrhea drug (kaolin), cimetidine, and cyclosporine.
