Lidex (Fluocinonide) is a prescription medication used to treat several skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. The drug reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation that occurs with these conditions. The active ingredient in Lidex is Fluocinonide. Fluocinonide belongs to a class of medications known as topical corticosteroids. It works by constricting the capillaries to reduce pain and swelling.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Lidex. The most common side effects of Lidex may include the following:
• Burning, irritation, or skin redness;
• Change in skin pigmentation;
• Dry skin;
• Heat rash;
• Skin rash;
• Thick, leathery skin

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Acne-like rash;
• Frequent urination;
• Poor wound healing;
• Scarring;
• Skin infection;
• Stretch marks;
• Thinning of skin with easy bruising;
• Unintented weight gain

These are not all of the side effects of Lidex. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.

You should not use Lidex if you are allergic to Fluocinonide or any ingredient in Lidex. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
• Have an infection or sore in the area to be treated;
• Have immune system problems;
• Have poor blood circulation;
• Have untreated skin lesions

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Lidex and aldesleukin and other medicines containing corticosteroids. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if Lidex will affect a fetus. Your doctor will assess if this medication is safe to use in pregnancy. It is not known if Lidex is excreted in breast milk. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Lidex is available in gel, cream, and ointment. Use Lidex precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Apply a small amount of the medication to the affected area 2 to 4 times daily and rub it in well. Lidex is for topical use only. Do not take it by mouth. Avoid applying this drug to sensitive areas like the face, underarms, or groin unless specified by your doctor. After applying Fluocinonide, do not cover the area with bandage or heavy clothing. Severe irritation can occur if this drug contacts the eye. Immediately flush your eyes with water if this happens. Wash your hangs with soap and water after every use. Store Lidex at room temperature, away from light and moisture.
