Zomig (Zolmitriptan) is a triptan drug used to treat acute migraine headaches in adults with or without aura. Zolmitriptan works by narrowing blood vessels around the brain and reducing substances in the body that can reduce the headache pain. Zolmitriptan is not indicated for the prevention of migraine attacks. Recently Zomig nasal spray has been approved for the treatment of acute migraine attacks in pediatric patients.

We currently have the brand from UK and Turkey manufactured by AstraZeneca and the generic Zolmitriptan manufactured by Cipla from India. Generic Zomig also comes from Canada manufactured by Teva known as Teva-Zolmmitriptan. It comes in different forms such as tablet, nasal spray, and rapimelt.
Stop using Zomig and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
• Bloody diarrhea
• Chest pain
• Numbness
• Pain or tightness feeling in your jaw, neck, or throat
• Sudden and severe stomach pain
Less serious side effects may include:
• Drowsiness
• Dry mouth
• Skin tingling
• Upset stomach and weakness
Consumer Precautions
You should not take Zomig if you are allergic to Zolmitriptan. Before you are taking Zomig, tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions such as heart problems, high blood pressure, liver disease, and kidney disease. Tell your doctor especially you are taking Cimetidine or antidepressant drugs.
