Product Details

Seasonique (Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription birth control pill. This is a combination medication that prevents ovulation. It also changes your cervical mucus and uterine lining which makes it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. Birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods. It may also decrease the risk of ovarian cysts and also treat acne. The dose of this birth control pill is one tablet daily at the same time each day.

Seasonique Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Seasonique may include breast tenderness, bloating, changes in weight, headache, nausea, swelling of ankles or feet (fluid retention), vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Dark urine;
• Lumps in the breast;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Severe stomach/abdominal pain;
• Sudden heavy or missed periods;
• Unusual vaginal bleeding;
• Yellowing eyes/skin

You should not take Seasonique if you are allergic to Levonorgestrel or Eithinyl estradiol or other estrogens or progestins. Before you start using this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make it harder to control your blood sugar levels if you have diabetes. This medication may cause blotchy or dark areas on your skin. Sunlight may worsen this effect. You should use protective clothing when outdoors. Seasonique should not be used during pregnancy. If you think you are pregnant or may become pregnant, inform your doctor right away. This medication may decrease breast milk production. It may also pass into breast milk and affect a nursing baby. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding a baby. There may a drug interaction between Seasonique and other medications such as anastrazole, exemestane, ospemifene, tamoxifen, tizanidine and tranexamic acid.
