Oracea is a medication used to treat the symptoms of rosacea in adults. This includes blemishes, bumps, and acne-like lesions. It works to reduce inflammation on the skin caused by rosacea and is a tetracycline antibiotic.

Contact your doctor right away if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
• Any sign of allergic reaction:
• Signs of low white blood cell counts:
• Signs of liver or pancreas problems:
• Increased pressure inside the skull:
• Severe stomach pain
• Watery or bloody diarrhea
• Throat irritation or trouble swallowing
• Chest pain, irregular heart rhythm, feeling short of breath
• Little or no urination
Less serious side effects to watch for include:
• Nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, loss of appetite
• Mild diarrhea
• Skin rash or itching
• Vaginal itching or discharge
Customer Precautions
Do not use this medication if you are pregnant or nursing. It could harm an unborn baby, or cause tooth discoloration later in life. You should not use Oracea if you are allergic to tetracycline antibiotics. Children younger than 8 should only use this medication if absolutely necessary, as it can cause yellowing or graying of teeth in kids. Because this is an antibiotic, it can cause birth control pills to be less effective. Be sure to use other non-hormone-based methods of birth control when you are on this medication. Be sure to tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease, kidney disease, asthma or sulfite allergy, increased pressure inside your skull, or if you take isotretinoin, seizure medications, or any blood thinners before you take this medication.
