Latuda (Generic name: Lurasidone HCl) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of patients with schizophrenia. Latuda contains active ingredient Lurasidone HCl. It is an atypical antipsychotic medication works by changing the effects of chemicals in the brain. Latuda is NOT used in psychotic conditions related to dementia. The effectiveness of Latuda for longer-term, that is, more than 6 weeks has NOT been established in controlled studies. Take Latuda exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Latuda Side Effects:
The most common adverse effects of Latuda are blurred vision, breast swelling or discharge, diarrhea, drowsiness, decreased sex drive, loss of appetite, menstrual disorder, nausea, stomach pain, and weight gain. If you have experienced any serious effects, such as chills, confusion, dizziness, fainting, fast heartbeats, fever, seizures, stiff muscles, signs of hyperglycemia (excessive hunger, increased thirst or urination, or weakness), inform your doctor immediately.
Latuda Precautions:
Do NOT take Latuda if you are allergic to Lurasidone or any of the ingredients in Latuda medication. Before taking Latuda oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as a history of breast cancer, diabetes, heart attack or stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney or liver disease, low white blood cell counts, Parkinson’s disease, and trouble swallowing. They may interact with Latuda drug, especially of: antibiotics, antifungal, heart or blood pressure medications, seizure medications, St.John’s wort, and other antipsychotic drugs.
