Hyderm Cream Information

Hyderm Cream (Hydrocortisone) belongs to a class of medications called corticosteroids. It is used for temporary relief of minor skin irritations such as itching and rashes due to a variety of conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis, allergies, itching of the outer female genitals, anal itching, insect bites, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and jewellery. Hydrocortisone works by reducing redness, itching, and inflammation. Hyderm Cream is available with the dosage of 1%/500 gm.

Hyderm Cream Side Effects

The most common side effect of Hyderm Cream may include stinging, burning, irritation; dryness, or redness; acne; unusual hair growth; small red bumps on the skin; skin thinning or discoloration, or stretch marks at the application site. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Appearance of blood vessels under the surface of your skin;
• Changes in skin colour;
• Excess hair growth;
• Increased skin sensitivity, skin pain or burning, skin infection; skin thinning or softening;
• Lack of healing of skin condition;
• Painful, red or itchy, pus-containing blisters in hair follicles;
• Stretch marks;
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction, (e.g., swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth, or throat; difficulty breathing or swallowing);
• Worsening of your skin condition.

Hyderm Cream Precautions

Do not use Hyderm Cream if you are allergic to corticosteroids or to any other ingredients in this medication or if there is a bacterial, tubercular, fungal, parasitic, viral skin infection, acne or sore in the area to be treated. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you are pregnant or breast feeding; have kidney or liver problems. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Hyderm Cream and other medications such as Ritonavir (for HIV); Itraconazole (for fungal infections). Do not use dressings or bandages over hydrocortisone unless recommended by your doctor. Be careful when applying hydrocortisone on lesions near the eye because absorption into the blood may cause increased eye pressure, glaucoma, or cataracts. Wash your hands after applying hydrocortisone and avoid touching your eyes. If you have itching of the outer female genitals with vaginal discharge, consult your doctor before using this product. Prolonged use of corticosteroids can cause thinning of the skin. If this occurs, talk to your doctor. Speak to your doctor about the benefits and risks of using this medication on children as children may absorb more of the medication than adults and may experience more side effects.
