Usage

Depakote (Divalproex Sodium) is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat various types of seizures. It is also used to treat seizures in people with epilepsy over the age of 10 years old and in adults to prevent migraine headaches, or to treat manic episodes related to bipolar disorder. Divalproex sodium belongs to a class of drugs called anti-epileptics. It works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain.

The common side effects of Depakote ER may include bruising or bleeding, change in menstrual periods, changes in weight or appetite, dizziness or drowsiness, hair loss, ringing in the ears, shakiness, unsteadiness, and vision changes.
