Product Details

Olmetec (Olmesartan) is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of mild to moderate high blood pressure. Olmesartan belongs to the class of medications called angiotensin II receptor blockers. It works by blocking the actions of chemical angiotensin II that causes blood vessels to constrict or tighten. This medication relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. It may take up to two weeks for the medication to start working. Olmesartan may be used alone or in combination with a water pill.

The common or the less serious side effects may include:
• Back pain;
• Diarrhea;
• Difficulty sleeping;
• Dizziness;
• Headache;
• Tiredness;
• Upper respiratory tract information

The Serious side effects include:
• Chronic diarrhea with weight loss;
• Fainting;
• Severe or persistent diarrhea;
• Signs of kidney problems;
• Slow or irregular heartbeat;
• Symptoms of a high potassium blood level;
• Unexplained muscle pain

You should not take Olmetec if you are allergic to Olmesartan or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. You should avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Olmesartan should not be taken during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, you should stop taking this medication and talk to your doctor. There may be an interaction between Olmesartan and other medications such as aliskiren, brimonidine, cyclosporine, hydralazine, lithium, quinine, etc.
