Product Details

Anandron (Nilutamide) is a prescription medication that is in combination with surgery and a hormone therapy that reduces the amount of testosterone in the body for the treatment of prostate cancer. Nilutamide belongs to a group of medications known as nonsteroidal antiandrogens. Prostate cancer cells require testosterone in order to grow and reproduce. Nilutamide works by blocking the effect of the male hormone testosterone in the body. The recommended dose for Nilutamide is 300mg once daily.

Anandron Side Effects and Precautions

The common Anandron side effects may include bloated feeling, confusion, constipation, decrease in appetite, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, hot flashes, itching, nausea, nervousness, sleeping problems, vomiting, etc. The serious side effects may include:
• Pain in the chest;
• Pain or tenderness in the stomach;
• Shortness of breath or difficult or troubled breathing;
• Signs of liver damage (persistent lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, yellowing of eyes and skin, dark coloured urine).

You should not take Anandron if you are allergic to Nilutamide or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. You should not drink alcohol at the same time you take this medication as it may cause nausea and flushing. Nilutamide may cause your blood sugar to rise. Your doctor should monitor your blood sugar regularly. There may be an interaction between Nilutamide and other medications such as alcohol, chlordiazepoxide, diazepam, phenytoin, propranolol, testosterone and androgens, theophylline, warfarin.
