Potassium – Slow K (Potassium) is a prescription medication used to prevent and treat low amounts of potassium in the blood. The body needs a normal potassium level for proper function of the cells, kidneys, heart, and muscles. Severe diarrhea, vomiting, hormone problems and treatment with diuretics can reduce potassium levels in the blood. The active ingredient in Potassium – Slow K is Potassium. Potassium belongs to a class of drugs called electrolyte supplements. It works by replacing lost potassium and preventing a deficiency. Potassium – Slow K is a special slow-release tablet that releases the medicine evenly throughout the day.

Potassium passes into breast milk and may harm nursing infants. Take Potassium – Slow K precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole with water or other liquid. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Take Slow K with a meal when sitting upright. It is important to drink plenty of fluid throughout the day while taking this drug. Slow K may not dissolve completely after all of the drug has been released. You may sometimes see a residue of the tablet in your stools. This is normal. It is important to keep up the level of potassium in your body. Keep taking this medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. Do not stop taking Slow K suddenly. Keep this medicine in its original container out of sight and reach of children. Store below 300C.
