Imitrex Nasal Spray Uses

Imitrex Nasal Spray, with the generic name sumatriptan, is a non-aerosol spray prescribed for the acute treatment of migraine attacks among adults. This could be used for migraines with or without aura. It relieves symptoms of migraine, including headache, pain, and sensitivity to sound/light. Note that this medication is not indicated for the prophylactic therapy of migraine or for managing hemiplegic or basilar migraines. In addition, its effectiveness has not been established for cluster headaches.

This is available in Imitrex Nasal Spray 20 mg and 5 mg.

Imitrex Nasal Spray Mechanism of Action

This selective serotonin receptor agonist or triptan works by exerting the agonist effects on the serotonin receptors on intracranial blood vessels and the sensory nerves of the trigeminal system.
