Marvelon (Desogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol) is used to prevent pregnancy. Combined oral hormonal contraceptives like Desogestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol inhibit egg release by stopping it from maturing, change cervical mucus consistency to make it difficult for sperm to reach the egg, and change the lining of the uterus to make it less suitable for implantation. Marvelon may also help your periods become lighter and shorter and treat mild to moderate acne.

• Rapid breathing;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, or itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;

Marvelon Precautions

Do not use Marvelon if you are allergic to Desogestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol, or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have a history of blood clots; have had a stroke; have diabetes; have pancreatitis; have unexplained vaginal bleeding; have endometrial hyperplasia; have hepatitis C; think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant; are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Marvelon and other medications, like phenytoin, bosentan, telaprevir, griseofulvin, rifampicin, ritonavir, and St. John’s wort. Do not use Marvelon if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. Taking oral contraceptives in pregnancy can harm your unborn baby. Do not use Marvelon while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. The hormones in this drug pass into your breast milk and may reduce the quality and quantity of the breast milk. It is not known if this drug is safe for use in children below 18 years of age. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Marvelon 28 days contains 28 white tablets with a strip that marks each day of the week to use the tablets. Swallow the pill whole. Do not crush or chew. Take the tablet at the same time each day to help you remember. Follow the direction of the arrows until you finish your tablets. Do not stop taking this drug without talking to your doctor. You are at risk of becoming pregnant any time you miss pills. Marvelon is a contraceptive. It will not protect you from sexually transmitted infections. Check your breasts and nipples every month while using this drug. Tell your doctor if you see or feel anything odd, like lumps or dimpled skin. Store this medication below 250C but not in the fridge.
