Activella (Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate) is a prescription combination medication that is used to treat certain moderate to severe symptoms of menopause. It is also used to prevent osteoporosis in women after menopause. Activella is a combination of estrogen and progestin hormones. This medication works by replacing estrogen and progestin in women who can no longer produce enough of these hormones.

Common side effects include:

Serious side effects include:

You should not use Activella if you are allergic to Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate. Do not use Activella if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not smoke or use tobacco. Estrogens combined with smoking increases your risk of blood clots, high blood pressure, and heart attack in women older than 35. This medication may cause blotchy, dark skin on the face. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths and sunlamps. This medication passes into breast milk; it may reduce the quality and amount of breast milk produced.
