Drug Class: analgesic, antispasmodic, and antiseptic

Uribel Uses

Uribel is an oral prescription drug used to relieve painful urination, bladder discomfort, loss of bladder control, and urinary urgency caused by an infection or a medical procedure. It is used to manage symptoms caused by irritation of the urinary tract.

Uribel Dosage Forms

This is available in Uribel 118 mg/40.8 mg/36 mg/10 mg/0.12 mg capsules.

Uribel Mechanism of Action

This oral drug is a combination of 5 different medications that works as an analgesic, an antispasmodic, and an antiseptic. It relaxes smooth muscles while producing an antispasmodic effect. It also releases formaldehyde which gives a bactericidal or bacteriostatic action.

Additionally, while it has weak antiseptic properties and mild analgesic effects for pain, it can also help regulate an acid pH in the urine that is necessary for methenamine degradation.
